About: UCCS Campus Recreation has partnered with Rocky Mountain Field Institute to assist with maintaining our campus trail system. UCCS Alumni and Friends Association is looking for alumni volunteers to help support this effort. We will be working on the Lori Cohen Memorial Loop Trail. The work that we will be doing can consist of closing social trails, by replanting vegetation, and seeding the soil.
Can I bring my family and children? Volunteers may bring their family and/or a friend. We kindly ask that any children be at least 16 years of age and/or older.
Time Commitment: Join us on Saturday, September 21 at 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 21 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Volunteer Expectations:
What to bring:
-Water
-Snacks
-Sunscreen
-Jacket
What to wear:
-Closed toe and closed heel shoes are required
-Long pants required
-We encourage long sleeve shirts, to protect you from the sun!
-Eye protection required (Sunglasses or work glasses), we will also have extra that will be available
-Work gloves required; we will also have plenty of extra gloves that will be available
Qualifications: No minimum qualifications, but volunteers should be willing and able to walk to the trail site, which can be anywhere from 0.5 to 1.5 miles from the meeting/parking spot. Volunteers should be able to comfortably bend to reach and possibly lift any materials.
Impact: Maintaining our trail system helps keep our campus trails safe and maintained for all to use!
Location Details: Volunteers will meet at Mountain Lion Field House in the lower parking lot and then hike to the Lori Cohen Memorial Loop Trail.
