About Family Weekend: Nestled between the time students are dropped off at the beginning of the semester and when they come home for the holidays, Family Weekend 2022 is the perfect reason to come back and visit UCCS to spend time with your student. From soccer games to magic shows, this weekend has a little something for everyone.
About Volunteer Opportunities: We are seeking volunteer support from alumni and friends of UCCS to help with various events on Family weekend. See below for more information about each shift and the type of volunteer work required for each.
Time Commitment: Shift times vary based on the length of an event. Volunteer needs and shifts include:
- Friday, October 14 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. Dueling Pianos Ushers/Greeters - We are seeking volunteers to help usher attendees into the Shockley Zalabak Theatre at the Ent Center for the Arts and support event coordinators as needed for the duration of the event.
- Saturday, October 15 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fam Fest Support - We are seeking volunteers to help with the set up, execution, and tear down of "Fam Fest". Fam Fest is the biggest event of the weekend, students and their families are invited to join in a series of crafts, games, and activities including a photo booth, inflatables, yard games, button making, and more. Volunteers will assist with set up, staffing of booths and games, and tear down and clean up at the end. Event happens in the Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center.
- Saturday, October 15 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. Studio UCCS: Watercolor - We are seeking volunteers to support an instructor lead watercolor painting class for students and their family members. Volunteers will assist with organization and distribution of supplies, clean up, and other duties as needed.
Qualifications: Volunteers can be alumni and friends of UCCS. No previous experience needed. Volunteers should be willing and able to stand and move about event spaces for several hours without a break and/or short breaks. Light lifting or bending may be required for moving of equipment and supplies. A positive "can-do" attitude is always welcome.
Expectations: Volunteers are expected to comply with the UCCS volunteer agreement waiver. Professional behavior and conduct are also expected from volunteers at all times.
Impact: Family weekend is a very important weekend for our students and their loved ones. The transition to or back to college in the fall comes with lots of excitement but also some challenges and home sickness. Family weekend offers students a chance to spend fun quality time with loved ones and allows loved ones to see their student. Your volunteer support help us ensure a positive experience for all attendees.

- Friday, October 14 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. Dueling Pianos Ushers/Greeters
Event Location: Ent Center for the Arts (5225 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80918)
Parking: Volunteers can park in LOT 576 or LOT 580 (if 576 is full, 580 requires you to walk to the Ent Center on the path outlined on the map below)
Volunteer Check-In Location: Volunteers should check in at the table located in the lobby of the Ent Center upon arrival.
- Saturday, October 15 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fam Fest Support
Event Location: Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center
Parking: Volunteers can park in the Alpine Garage or LOT 540 (short walk required to get to Rec Center)
Volunteer Check-In Location: Volunteers should check in at service desk of the Recreation Center. Located right by the front doors of the building.
- Saturday, October 15 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. Studio UCCS: Watercolor
Event Location: Berger Hall. Located in the University Center
Parking: Volunteers can park in one of three lots: LOT 220, LOT 222, LOT 224
Volunteer Check-In Location: Volunteers should check in at the table located directly in front of Berger Hall upon arrival.
